Every home has the outlet that should exist and doesn't, the switch in the wrong place, and a few devices worn loose enough that plugs fall out under their own weight. Rizen Electric installs and replaces outlets and switches throughout the White Mountains, on circuits that can actually carry what you're plugging in.
Outlets and switches are the part of the electrical system you actually touch, which makes them both the most noticed and the most ignored. Noticed, because everyone knows which outlet barely grips a plug and which switch does nothing anyone remembers. Ignored, because they keep limping along until somebody finally calls.
Here's what the limping costs. A worn outlet holds the plug loosely, the loose contact arcs, and the arc cooks the device and the connections behind it. A switch installed in 1985 with the wire stabbed into the back instead of wrapped under the screw has been loosening for forty years. None of this announces itself until it's heat, and heat behind drywall is the start of the worst kind of story.
So we treat device work with the seriousness it quietly deserves. Replacements get wired under the screw. New outlets get circuits that can carry them, checked against what the circuit already feeds, with dedicated runs for the loads that need their own. Dimmers get matched to the actual fixtures so nothing buzzes or flickers. Water Shock Protection (GFCI) goes wherever water shares the room. And where charging happens, USB-C built into the wall beats a drawer of adapters.
It's simple work done carefully, and it carries the same Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee as a whole-home rewire. The small jobs are how we earn the big ones.
A loose outlet isn't cosmetic. Worn contacts grip the plug poorly, the connection arcs invisibly, and arcing is heat. If plugs fall out of an outlet on their own, that device has earned retirement.
Back-stabbed connections, where the wire is pushed into a spring instead of wrapped under a screw, were fast to install and have been failing ever since. We wire devices under the screw, the slow right way.
Adding an outlet is easy. Adding it to a circuit that's already carrying a winter's worth of space heaters is how breakers earn their bad reputation. We check what the circuit already feeds first.
