Landscape & Outdoor Lighting in the White Mountains of Arizona

Outdoor lighting up here has two jobs: make the place feel the way mountain evenings should, and survive what mountain weather does to electrical equipment. Rizen Electric designs and installs landscape and outdoor lighting throughout the White Mountains that handles both.

What this includes

What this looks like

Mountain evenings are the reason people buy homes up here. Outdoor lighting, done with restraint, is how you keep them after sunset: the path to the door lit enough to trust in the dark, the deck warm enough to hold dinner, the pines behind the house given just enough light to stay present without turning the yard into a parking lot.

The design half of the work is taste. We light for the view from the porch and the walk from the truck, favoring low, shielded, downward-facing fixtures that keep glare out of eyes and stars in the sky. A few fixtures placed right beat twenty placed evenly, and we'll tell you honestly when less is the better option.

The engineering half is where the White Mountains test everything. Buried runs have to survive freeze-thaw. Fixtures spend months under snow. Monsoon season pressure-tests every gasket and cover on the property. So the equipment is weather-rated, the connections are sealed, the burial depths are honest, and every outdoor circuit carries Water Shock Protection (GFCI). That's the difference between landscape lighting and future yard debris.

Control rounds it out: dusk-to-dawn, schedules, or full smart control that joins the rest of the house. Designed at a free consultation, installed clean, and covered by the Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee.

What you should know

Outdoor electrical up here lives a hard life: buried lines through freeze-thaw, fixtures under snow load, monsoon water finding every unsealed connection. Equipment choice and installation quality matter more than the catalog photo.

Good landscape lighting is mostly restraint. A few well-placed fixtures beat a runway. We design for the view from the porch and the walk from the driveway, not for maximum bulb count.

Dark skies matter in mountain country. Shielded, downward-facing fixtures keep the stars in the deal, and we lean that direction in every design.

Frequently asked questions

Will the system survive winter?
That's the design requirement, not a hope. Weather-rated fixtures, sealed connections, wire buried at proper depth, and Water Shock Protection on every circuit. We build outdoor systems for January, and July takes care of itself.
Can you light the path and steps without floodlighting the yard?
Yes, and that's the right instinct. Low, shielded path and step fixtures guide feet without blinding eyes. The goal is seeing where you're going, not a stadium.
Can the lights run on a schedule?
Yes. Dusk-to-dawn, fixed schedules, or smart control from your phone, including scenes that pair with your interior lighting. Set it once and the house handles its own evenings.
Is this the same as your permanent holiday lighting?
Different service, friendly neighbors. Permanent holiday lighting is the programmable color system on the roofline. Landscape lighting is the year-round layer for paths, patios, and the landscape itself. Plenty of homes end up with both, and they're designed to work together.
